Day
1
We land at Incheon
airport, Seoul,first impressions:
the countryside is dry and crisp, like the aftermath of
a really long hot summer. Being use to the flatlands of
Norfolk, Korea's beautiful mountains create a vast impact
of snow capped rugged scenery. |
|
 |
|
 |
|
We
arrive at the most colourful carved Sam
Bo Sa temple, halfway up
a mountain north of Seoul. We get use to taking off our
shoes and leaving them outside, prior to entering any
home, temple, restaurant or hotel. |
|
|
|
We
are treated to our first
meal of Pim Beem Bap, vegetarian
rice & vegetables; we also get to grips with the chopsticks.
There is no furniture and we each sit crossed leg on a
cushion at a very long low table. This is not good news
for Uncle John, who is in his seventies. |
|
 |
|
 |
|
Our
rooms
are also minimalist, no furniture, just a quilt on the
floor with a hard straw pillow. Most of us are sharing
3 to a room, we are blessed by the fact the rooms are
heated by under floor heating. |

Unfortunately
Jace's luggage is still in Amsterdam. We managed to present
the Zen Master
with an unbroken Wedgwood
tea service, carefully carried all the way from Looses
in Magdalen Street! |
