Day
5
By now we are all proficient with
chopsticks, and can manage the kimchee without dropping
it on the table. Most of us have a love hate relationship
with kimchee. As the National Park is in a tourist area
we opt for an English breakfast. It's not quite as we
expected, on the same plate are slices of orange, some
parsley, Spam & eggs. |

We
travel on to the East Coast, and stop off at Gyeongpo;
it is not too dissimilar to a busy day in Yarmouth except
that the street from the beach is cordoned off each night
by the military, being a vulnerable area with relatively
easy access from North Korea. |
|
We
continue to Daegu, stopping off at Master Hong's village
to meet his family.
We share a graveside ritual and are escorted halfway up
a mountain slope in the dark by Master Hong, his brother
and his 2 brothers in law. Graves can be seen all over
the mountain slopes, they are grassy semi circular
mounds. We pay our respects at the graves of Master
Hong's parents by sipping a little wine and eating a
piece of soft dried squid.

We
stumble back down the mountain to a feast
produced by Master Hong's family, then leave for a nearby
hotel.
